Riteish Deshmukh son of former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh is in a critical condition. He is suffering from serious liver ailment and multiple organ failure. He is currently under observation and is admitted to the Global Hospital in Chennai.
Riteish has intended to donate a part of his liver to his sick father.
Following Riteish’s willingness, the doctors are expected to carry on certain tests to examine whether tissues of the father and son match or not. According to transplant rules, the doctors can conduct liver transplantation only after an authorised committee headed by the Tamil Nadu director of medical education gives permission.
The 67-year-old, Vilasrao’s condition declined yesterday and he was was moved to the Chennai hospital by a special flight from Mumbai.
Vilasrao’s health condition worsened and doctors on Tuesday said, “Deshmukh is on life support. His condition is critical as he is suffering from a serious liver ailment and multiple organ failure.”
Earlier, a doctor in Mumbai was quoted as saying, “At Breach Candy (Mumbai hospital where Deshmukh was earlier admitted), he was on dialysis for three days. There was no improvement in his condition and ultimately he was put on life support system.”

“It is known that Vilasrao Deshmukh had gone overseas for check-up on two to three occasions and there had been a noticeable improvement in his condition,” said the doctor.
